Paolo Dal Soglio

Paolo Dal Soglio (born July 29, 1970 in Schio ) is an Italian shot putter .

In 1993 he was fifth at the World Athletics Championships in Toronto , won gold at the Mediterranean Games and silver at the Universiade and failed to qualify at the World Athletics Championships in Stuttgart . In 1994 he was sixth at the European Indoor Championships in Paris and eighth at the European Championships in Helsinki , in 1995 seventh at the World Indoor Championships in Barcelona and ninth at the World Championships in Gothenburg .

A gold medal at the European Indoor Championships in Stockholm in 1996 was followed by fourth place at the Olympic Games in Atlanta . In 1997 he was ninth at the World Championships in Athens and won silver at the Universiade, in 1998 he was fifth at the European Championships in Budapest . A sixth place at the World Indoor Championships in 1999 in Maebashi was followed by an end in the preliminary round at the World Championships in Seville in the same year and at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. In 2001 he was fifth at the World Indoor Championships in Lisbon and was eliminated from the qualification at the World Championships in Edmonton . In 2002 he decided not to start at the European Championships in Munich because his wife had just given birth to their second child.

Overall he was eleven times national outdoor champion (1994–1996, 1998–2004, 2011) and thirteen times indoors (1993, 1994, 1996–2004, 2008, 2009).

Paolo Dal Soglio is 1.90 m tall and weighs 125 kg. He starts for the Carabinieri Bologna and is trained by Aldo Pedron and Peter Tschiene.
