Jānis Bojārs

Jānis Bojārs ( May 12, 1956 - June 5, 2018 ) was a Latvian shot putter who started for the Soviet Union .

At the European Athletics Championships in Athens in 1982 , he won silver.

In 1983 he won the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Budapest and was fifth at the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki . He defended his title at the European Indoor Championships in Gothenburg in 1984 .

In 1985 he won bronze at the World Indoor Athletics Games in Paris and came fourth at the European Indoor Championships in Piraeus . At the European Indoor Championships in Madrid in 1986 , he repeated his fourth place.

In 1983 he became the Soviet champion. In the hall he won the Soviet championship title four times (1981-1983, 1986).
