Timo Aaltonen

Timo Aaltonen (born April 11, 1969 in Vehmaa , Finland ) is a 1.89 m tall and 130 kg heavy Finnish shot putter who competes for Turun Urheiluliitto , the same club to which Paavo Nurmi also belonged. He won with a distance of 20.62 meters at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in 2000 , the Gold Medal (qualification width: 20.57 m).

Aaltonen was the 13th shot putter to join the Finnish 20-meter club after taking a 20.12-meter shot during a competition in Kuortane on June 20, 1998 .

At the 2000 Olympic Games , he finished 12th with 18.64 m. At the 2001 World Athletics Championships , he reached fourth place (20.24 m). He set his outdoor best of 20.70 m on July 1, 2000 in Eurajoki (Finland).
