Heinfried Birlenbach

Heinfried Birlenbach (born December 7, 1940 in Birlenbach , Siegen district ) is a former German athlete .

Heinfried Birlenbach started as a shot putter for Sportfreunde Siegen and took part in the Olympic Games three times : 1964 in Tokyo , 1968 in Mexico and 1972 in Munich . There he reached the final with a personal best of 20.37 m and finished seventh in the final ranking.

In 1968 he achieved the European record in the six-country match in Brescia with 20.18 m. He was German shot put champion six times in a row and was called up to 46 international athletics competitions. To this day, Heinfried Birlenbach holds the Siegerland records in the shot put (20.37 m, achieved on September 9, 1972 in Munich) and in the discus throw (50.64 m, achieved on September 22, 1966 in Fröndenberg ) at the German Indoor Championships in 1971 at Birlenbach Amphetamines found in urine; he was banned from the German Athletics Association for doping and the title and place were revoked.

Heinfried Birlenbach was 2.02 m tall and weighed 135 kg during his active time.
