Axel Harries

Axel Andreas Michael Harries (born September 19, 1964 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German manager and former middle -distance runner who specialized in the 800-meter distance .

Life

Harries studied industrial engineering with finance and accounting at Furtwangen University . As a trainee in the international junior research group, he joined what was then Daimler-Benz AG in 1994 . Initially he worked on the M-Class project for Mercedes-Benz US International Tuscaloosa , Alabama . From 2003 to 2008 he was responsible for the marketing and portfolio strategy of Mercedes-Benz Cars . In 2008 he was appointed managing director of Mercedes-Benz Consult Graz GmbH and at the same time headed the off-road vehicle product division of Daimler AG . Between 2014 and 2016 he was in charge of the restructured quality management at Mercedes-Benz Cars. On June 1, 2016, he took over the management of the newly established Mercedes-Benz Cars CASE / EVA business unit. Harries has been Vice President Product Management Mercedes-Benz PC & Sales Functions since June 1, 2017. He is also a member of the ChargePoint Board of Directors and a member of the Carwow Board of Directors .

Athletic career

In 1984 he became German champion over 800 meters and took part in the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in the same year , but was eliminated in the preliminary stages. At the European Athletics Indoor Championships in 1985 in Piraeus and 1986 in Madrid he was each fifth.

In the hall he won the national championship title in 1985 and 1989 and was runner-up in 1987. He started for TV Furtwangen until 1986 , then for the LC Olympiapark Munich .
