TuS Wunstorf was founded in 1933 under the name Turnerschaft von 1862 as a merger of the men's gymnastics club from 1862 Wunstorf and the men's gymnastics club from 1891 Wunstorf and bears the current name after a brief ban since the re-approval by the British military government in 1945.

The most successful season was the 1971/72 season, when TuS played in the Badminton Bundesliga . With the 7th place the TuS was relegated to the regional league after this season.
