Corinna Harrer (born January 19, 1991 in Regensburg ) is a former German athlete .
Career
Harrer won her first titles in 2007 and 2008 as German B youth champion in the 400-meter run , before concentrating on longer distances. In 2009 she became German youth and junior champion in the 800 meter run . In the same year she surprisingly won the silver medal on this route at the Junior European Championships in Novi Sad . At the 2010 World Junior Athletics Championships in Moncton, she finished sixth. In addition, she led the German juniors at the European Cross Country Championships as fifth in the individual ranking to the silver medal in the team ranking.
At the German Indoor Athletics Championships 2011 in Leipzig, Harrer came second in the 3000 meter run . However, the 1,500-meter run developed into her strongest discipline this season . At the European Athletics U23 Championships in Ostrava , she won the bronze medal on this route. In the run-up, she achieved a new personal best with 4: 08.94 min. Shortly afterwards she won her first national title in the main class at the German Championships in Kassel. A week later she increased her 1500 meter best in Gent to 4: 08.63 min. She proved her versatility again at the European Cross Country Championships at the end of 2011 when she led the team to the silver medal in the women's U23 race as third in the individual ranking.
In 2012 Harrer became German champion over 3000 meters indoors and over 1500 meters outdoors. At the Golden Gala in Rome, she made her first start in the IAAF Diamond League and finished fifth in the 1,500 meter run with a personal best of 4: 04.30 minutes. Over the same distance she was ninth at the European Athletics Championships in Helsinki . The subsequent disqualification of four athletes for doping offenses led to the later move up to fifth place. As a participant in the Olympic Games in London , she was seventh in the first semi-final over 1500 meters with 4: 05.70 min and only missed the final by 0.23 s. As it turned out later, Jekaterina Kostezkaja and Aslı Çakır Alptekin were doped in their semifinals , so that Harrer was deprived of participation in the final.
In 2013 Harrer won the German Indoor Championships over 3000 meters. A week later she won silver over the same distance at the European Indoor Championships in Gothenburg . On July 7, 2013, she won the German championship title over 1500 meters outdoors for the third time in Ulm.
In 2014 Harrer became German champion over 10,000 meters for the first time . She defeated the seven-time title holder Sabrina Mockenhaupt in the final sprint . Due to a stress fracture in her right metatarsus, she was unable to take part in the 2014 European Athletics Championships in Zurich.
At the German Indoor Championships in 2015 Harrer did not participate. For this she became German cross-country champion three weeks later (team classification) .
In 2016, Harrer canceled the indoor season after a serious foot injury and was also unsuccessful in the outdoor season.
In 2017, the focus on long journeys proved its worth. In April Harrer was able to become German half marathon champion (team classification) and third in the individual classification. In May she became German runner-up in the 10,000-meter run in Bautzen . At the German Championships in Erfurt, she took third place in the 5000 meter run.
