Christian Seiler (athlete)

Christian Seiler (born July 23, 1983 ) is a German marathon and ultramarathon runner .

Career

Christian Seiler took part in the European Cross Country Championships twice as a junior: in 2001 in Thun he came in 52nd, in 2002 in Medulin in 69th.

At the GutsMuths-Rennsteiglauf , he won ten times on different routes. He won the marathon four times (2007–2009 and 2015) and three times each of the half marathons (2004–2006) and the super marathon (2012–2014). Already at his first start on the super marathon course (72.7 km) he set a course record of 5:10:19 h in 2012, which he improved in 2014 by almost 20 minutes to 4:50:56 h.

In 2007 and 2008 he was fourth in the German half marathon championships . At the Berlin Marathon 2009 he came 17th and was the fastest German. In 2012 he won the Glacier 3000 Run. In 2013 he improved Jürgen Wieser's 14-year-old course record at the Albmarathon over 50 km by a good five minutes to 3:07:25 h.

In 2013 Christian Seiler moved from the Erfurt running club to the GutsMuths-Rennsteiglaufverein.
