Stefan Eberhardt (born January 12, 1985 ) is a former German middle-distance runner who specialized in the 1,500 meter run .

Athletic career

After various successes in the youth field, Eberhardt became German runner-up over 1500 meters in the hall in 2005. In the same year he celebrated his greatest international success when he won the silver medal at the U23 European Championships in Utrecht .

Eberhardt was German indoor champion in 2006 and German outdoor champion in 2008. He took part in the 2009 World Championships in Berlin, but dropped out in the run-up. Due to injury, he largely missed the 2010 season. As a result, he was no longer able to build on his old achievements and qualified neither for the 2011 World Championships in Daegu nor for the 2012 Olympic Games in London. In 2013 he moved from the LG Ohra-Hörselgas to the LC Jena.

Due to persistent injury problems, Eberhardt ended his competitive sports career after the 2013 season and worked full-time for the riot police in Erfurt.
