Marius Broening (born October 24, 1983 in Herrenberg ) is a German - Swiss athlete and bobsleigh athlete who reached the finals at the World Championships in 2005 with the German 4 x 100 meter relay and at the 2010 European Championships in Barcelona with the Bronze won the 4 x 100 meter relay. He has been active as a pusher in bobsleigh since 2014, first for the German and since 2015 for the Swiss federation.

In 2004, 2006 and 2009 he was second in the German championships over 100 meters , in 2008 he was vice indoor champion over 60 meters. In 2005 Broening won silver with the sprint relay at the U23 European Championships. In Helsinki at the 2005 World Championships he was the final runner in the German relay, which finished seventh with 38.48 s. A year later he ran with the relay in 39.38 s in fifth place at the European Championships in Gothenburg . At the World Indoor Championships in Lisbon in 2008 Broening competed in the 60-meter run, with 6.67 s he was eliminated in the semi-finals.

Marius Broening starts for LAV asics Tübingen , for which he started until 2009 and moved back in January 2012 after an interlude at LG Stadtwerke München . He has lived and trained in Munich since the end of 2013 with his trainer Ingo Seibert and the pole vaulters Raphael Holzdeppe and Fabian Schulze . With a height of 1.82 m, he has a competition weight of 86 kg. Marius has a bachelor's degree in sports management from the University of Tübingen and has been in a relationship with training mate Franziska Dobler since 2004 . Since 2009 Broening has also been the athletics trainer for the Bundesliga basketball team WALTER Tigers Tübingen . In 2013 Marius Broening founded the platform athletesforall together with Florian Holm, which offers personal training with active or former professional athletes.

Bobsleigh

Broening has been a pusher in bobsleigh since summer 2014. First he was active for the German pilot Johannes Lochner in the 2014/15 World Cup season , but after he was not nominated for the 2015 World Cup, he moved to the Swiss Association for the European Cup four-bobsleigh team of Pius Meyerhans , with whom he stood out thanks to strong performances in the World Cup 2015/16, however , was able to qualify for the 2016 World Cup. Starting as Bobsleigh Switzerland II, they finished 23rd in the four-man bobsleigh competition at the World Cup.
