The LAZ Zweibrücken is an athletics club in Zweibrücken , which was founded in 1988. The club, which has an athletics hall built in 1997, also serves as the national performance center of the German Athletics Association .

The focus is on the pole vault . Raphael Holzdeppe became world champion outdoors in 2013 , Nastja Ryshich became world champion indoors in 1999 . Lisa Ryshich won the U-23 European Championships in 2003. Kristina Gadschiew took third place at the 2011 European Indoor Championships . Andrei Tivontchik won the bronze medal at the 1995 World Indoor Championships and the 1996 Olympic Games . He has been a trainer at the federal base since 2004. The club also produced well-known javelin throwers , including the 2018 European Champion Christin Hussong , Till Wöschler , Alexander Vieweg and Margot Kruber (* 1969), who was also successful in lawn power sports .

On August 15, 2012, the Himmelsstürmer Cup , an international pole vault meeting, was held for the first time in over ten years . This drew a counterpart in the winter season with the Hallenstürmer Cup . In autumn 2013, the Hügelstürmer-Cup was held for the first time , a cross-country run with which the association wants to create a meeting for running enthusiasts from the region. In April and November each year, two sports festivals are held for talent spotting. The association employs two full-time trainers.
