Christin Hussong (born March 17, 1994 in Zweibrücken ) is a German athlete who specializes in javelin throwing. Her greatest sporting success is winning the title at the 2018 European Championships in Berlin .

Athletic career

Hussong began athletics at TV Thaleischweiler and moved to LAZ Zweibrücken in 2012 , where she specialized in javelin throwing, after having previously also been active in the shot put . In her first international championship participation in the adult area, she took seventh place with a javelin throw at 59.29 m at the European championships in Zurich in 2014 . After the gold medal at the U23 European Championships in 2015, she was able to achieve sixth place with 62.98 m during the 2015 World Championships in Beijing , where her teammate Katharina Molitor won the title. Before that, Christin Hussong had already achieved the greatest distance in the qualifying competition with a personal best of 65.92 m.

In 2016 she became German champion for the first time with a new personal best of 66.41 m. At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , she reached a width of 57.70 m in the final battle, placing her in twelfth place.

In 2017 Hussong became German runner-up . In mid-July she was nominated by the General German University Sports Association (adh) for the Summer Universiade in Taipei , where she reached 5th place.

In 2018, Hussong and the team took 1st place at the European Winter Throwing Cup in Leiria , to which they contributed by finishing 2nd in the individual. In July she became German champion for the second time with 63.54 m . At the European Championships in Berlin on August 10, 2018, she won the gold medal with a new personal best of 67.90 m and over six meters ahead of the runner-up. At the Continental Cup in Ostrava , Hussong took second place with the European team, to which she contributed with a second place in the individual.
