Klavdiya Yakovlevna Majuchaya

Klawdija Jakowlewna Majutschaja , nee Klawdija Jakowlewna Laptewa , ( Russian : Клавдия Яковлевна Маючая-Лаптева, born May 15, 1918 in Saransk ; † October 14, 1989 ) was a Soviet athlete . In 1946 she was European champion in the javelin throw .

Career

Under her maiden name Laptewa, she was Soviet champion in 1938 and 1939. After their marriage, she became Soviet champion again in 1943 and 1944, as well as in 1946 and 1947.

The Soviet Union first took part in the European Championships in Oslo in 1946 . Majutschaja won the javelin throw with 46.25 meters in front of her teammate Lyudmila Anokina and the Dutch Johanna Koning .

Anokina had exceeded the existing world record in 1945 with 48.39 meters. Since the Soviet Union did not become a member of the world association IAAF until the end of 1947 , Anokina's achievement was not recognized as a world record. In the summer of 1947, the Austrian Herma Bauma set a new official world record with 48.21 meters. On September 23, 1947, Majuchaya in Moscow was the first woman to throw the spear more than 50 meters at 50.32 meters. This Russian record was not officially recognized by the IAAF as the Soviet Union was still not a member of the IAAF. However, the IAAF today describes Majuchaya's litter as the first litter over the 50-meter mark.

Mayuchaya threw four Soviet records in 1939, her fifth record was the throw of 50.32 meters in 1947. In 1946 and 1947, Mayuchaya was the world's best javelin thrower.
