Sam finds De Nio
Samfundet De Nio ( Community of Nine ) is a Swedish academy for literature with nine seats, founded on February 14, 1913 in Stockholm . The foundation was based on the will of the writer Lotten von Kræmer from June 2, 1910.
The aim of the community is to support literary works as well as women's and peace issues . The members of the Academy are elected for life, but - as has been possible with the Swedish Academy since 2018 - they can declare their resignation early. Four seats are reserved for women and another four for men. The community has been led since 1988 by the spokesman Inge Jonsson (1928-2020). The speaker's first chair is constantly alternating between a man and a woman.
