Inge Jonsson (born November 7, 1928 in Stockholm - † January 31, 2020 ) was a Swedish author, literary critic and director of the Samfundet De Nio Academy .

Jonsson was 1961 lecturer in literature and poetry and received his doctoral degree Ph. D. for a treatise on Emanuel Swedenborg . In 1973 he became professor of literature at Stockholm University . In 1978 he became dean and in 1988 rector of the historical-philosophical section at the same institution. He was a member of the royal academy for aesthetic literature ( Kungliga Vitterhets Historie och Antikvitets Academies ) and from 1999 to 2001 its chairman. In 1988 he became a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts and in 1989 a full member of the Academia Europaea . He was also a member of the Norwegian Academy of Sciences , the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and the Swedish Military Academy.

Jonsson was from 1976 a member of the Samfundet De Nio ("Community of the Nine") and from 1988 head of this academy. Since 1994, he was from his professorship emeritus .
