The German University for Prevention and Health Management (DHfPG) is a state-recognized , privately owned university of applied sciences based in Saarbrücken and study centers in Germany , Austria and Switzerland . It is a sister company of the BSA Academy , an adult education institute specializing in prevention , fitness and health .

history

In 2001 the BSA-Private Vocational Academy was founded and recognized by the Saarland Ministry of Culture in 2002 . It is the predecessor institution.

The degree program “Diplom-Fitnessökonom (BA Saarland)” was started in 2002, followed in 2003 by the degree program “Diplom-Gesundheitmanager (BA Saarland)” and in 2005 the degree program “Diplom-Nutrition Advisor (BA Saarland)”. From 2006 there were the bachelor's degrees in fitness economics, fitness training, health management and nutritional advice.

In 2008 it was accredited as a state-recognized private German university for prevention and health management. In 2009, six higher education courses were introduced. In 2010 the master's degree in “Prevention and Health Management” began. The bachelor's degree in Sports Economics has been on offer since 2012. The Master of Business Administration Sport / Health Management course has also been part of the university's portfolio since 2014. In 2016 the new "Master of Arts Sport Economics" course will start for the first time.

On October 20, 2017, she was accredited by the Science Council for a further ten years. On the basis of the third successful assessment by the Science Council , which advises the federal government and the governments of the federal states directly on questions of the content and structural development of the universities, the competent authority granted unlimited state recognition of the DHfPG with effect from January 1, 2018 State Chancellery of the Saarland.

In 2020, the university will offer five Bachelor's degrees and four Master’s degrees. There are eleven study centers to choose from: Berlin, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Cologne, Leipzig, Munich, Saarbrücken, Stuttgart, Vienna and Zurich.

Study system

The university's bachelor's degree extends the dual study system of company-based training and scientifically-oriented studies with combined teaching consisting of distance learning , which is supplemented at regular intervals by presence phases. In total, more than 4,300 companies are currently training Bachelor students at the DHfPG. (As of January 2016)

Admission requirement

Bachelor degree:

  • University entrance qualification

General higher education entrance qualification or the school part of the advanced technical college entrance qualification, degree as master craftsman / specialist or an equivalent recognized previous education.

  • Training contract with a company

Master's degree:

  • The university’s master’s courses are designed for graduates of a bachelor’s / diploma course that qualifies them for a profession. Entry into research and evaluation is also possible.
  • "Master of Arts Prevention and Health Management" and "Master of Arts Sports Economics"

The course can be started after successfully completing a Bachelor / Diploma course.

  • "Master of Business Administration Sports / Health Management"

Multi-stage admission procedure: first degree (e.g. Bachelor, Diploma), qualified practical experience of usually not less than 2 years, selection procedure, simplified selection procedure for graduates of the DHfPG.

Accreditation

The accreditation process for the Bachelor of Arts in Fitness Economics course was completed in autumn 2005. The other Bachelor's programs in fitness training, health management and nutritional advice were first accredited in 2005 and 2006 by the accreditation agency for programs in the field of health and social affairs (AHPGS). The Master's degree in Prevention and Health Management was first accredited by the AHPGS in 2010, and the Bachelor's degree in Sports Economics received accreditation in 2012. In 2013 the Master of Business Administration Sport / Health Management received its accreditation, in 2015 the Master's degree in Sport Economics was successfully accredited by the AHPGS.

In order to be recognized as a university, in addition to program accreditations, the entire institution was also accredited by the Science Council. This accreditation was successfully completed in 2008 and confirmed with reaccreditation in 2012. On the basis of the third assessment by the Science Council, the permanent state recognition of the DHfPG was granted by the responsible State Chancellery of Saarland with effect from January 1, 2018. In addition to being checked by the responsible Ministry of Economics and Science, the study programs are checked by independent accreditation agencies and are state-checked and approved by the Central Office for Distance Learning (ZFU) in Cologne.

Cooperations and partnerships

The MBA program in sports / health management is carried out in cooperation between the Saarland University and the DHfPG. The university maintains a wide network of cooperation partners (including the German Cancer Research Center , the Institute for Sports Medicine and Prevention at the University of Leipzig , the Technical University of Munich , the University Hospital and the Medical Faculty of the University of Heidelberg ).
