Sports badge of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate

The sports badge of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate is the highest award for sport in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate . It was donated in 1962 by the then Prime Minister Peter Altmeier .

purpose

The plaque is used to recognize outstanding sporting achievements and special services to sport.

Award criteria

Members of the Rhineland-Palatinate state government can suggest individuals for the award . The plaque can also be awarded to people with residence outside of Rhineland-Palatinate, provided they have earned their services to sport in Rhineland-Palatinate.

Award

The award is made by the Prime Minister of Rhineland-Palatinate. A certificate will be issued for the award.

design

The sports badge consists of a circular medal in cast bronze. It has a diameter of 10 cm and shows on the front a picture of an upright athlete with a burning torch in his outstretched hand. The front also bears the inscription "The Minister President of Rhineland-Palatinate" with an image of the state coat of arms. On the back it shows a stylized laurel branch and the dedication “For outstanding services to sport” .
