Kristina Gadschiew ( Russian Кристина Гаджиева ; born July 3, 1984 in Wassiljewka , RSFSR , Soviet Union ) is a former German pole vaulter of Russian origin.

career path

Gadschiew studies chemistry and sport at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern .

Athletic career

Gadschiew, who started for the LAZ Zweibrücken in 2000 , won the U23 international competition for the first time in 2007 in Szczecin . At the German Championships in 2007 in Erfurt , she was fourth. Shortly afterwards, she won the silver medal at the 2007 Summer Universiade in Bangkok . In 2008 she became South German Champion in Ohrdruf . In 2008 she won the runner-up title in Hanau . At the German Indoor Championships in Leipzig in 2009 , she won the bronze medal with 4.50 m. At the German Championships in Ulm in 2009 , Gadschiew won silver and was German university champion in the same year. At the European Indoor Championships in Turin in 2009 , she finished fifth. At the 2009 World Championships in Berlin , she jumped 4.40 m and ended up tenth.

At the German Indoor Championships in Karlsruhe in 2010 , she jumped 4.60 m and came second behind Carolin Hingst , who was at the same height , but who needed one less attempt. At the World Indoor Championships shortly thereafter, she was seventh. She also mastered this height outdoors in 2010 and improved her 2009 best of 4.58 m by two centimeters. It was further improved in the 2010/2011 winter season. At the Rhineland-Palatinate indoor championships in Ludwigshafen, she mastered 4.61 m. She confirmed this performance as third in Silke Spiegelburg's record jump over 4.76 m at the indoor meeting in Karlsruhe and followed in February with 4.66 m in the meeting record in Potsdam. At the European Indoor Championships 2011 in Paris, Gadschiew achieved her greatest success to date and won the bronze medal. At the World Championships in Daegu she was ninth with 4.65 m.

In 2012, Gadschiew was twelfth at the World Indoor Championships in Istanbul. The following year she won the German Indoor Championship in Dortmund for the first time . At the European Indoor Championships a week later in Gothenburg she was seventh. She qualified again for the 2013 World Championships and finished the competition in tenth place.

In June 2014 she tore the Achilles tendon, did not get into Olympic shape in 2016 and announced that she had decided to end her career in summer 2016.

Gadschiew was trained by Andrei Tivontchik .
