Lars Albert (born February 9, 1982 in Saarbrücken ) is a German athlete . In 2006 and 2007 he became German champion in the decathlon .

Life

Albert was born on February 9, 1982 in Saarbrücken. His mother Liesel Krauhs was German runner-up in the pentathlon several times in the 1970s and set a German record in 1978. Albert began his career with 14 years as German champion Eight struggle of students in 1996 with 4773 points. In 2000 and 2001 he was German youth champion in the decathlon with 7492 and 7847 points. In 2001 Albert received the LSVS “Best Young Athlete in Saarland” award after finishing second at the European Junior Championships. In 2003 he finished fourth at the U23 European Championships.

In 2006 Albert became German champion with 7848 points . The following year he was able to defend his title with 7679 points. In 2008 he increased his personal best at the all- around meeting in Ratingen to 7933 points. On April 5, 2007 he was one of the last five candidates in the 10th Schlag den Raab broadcast. He was only second and could not take part. In 2011 he won the German indoor heptathlon championship with 5777 points . He is currently working at the Schloss Gymnasium as a sports and geography teacher.

Lars Albert is 1.96 m tall and weighs 97 kg. He starts for the LAC Elm and is trained by his father, Dieter Albert, at the Hermann-Neuberger-Sportschule in Saarbrücken. He lives in the small town of Püttlingen in the Saarland . After abandoning medical school he started on sports and geography teacher to study. He was also a teacher at the Ottweiler grammar school and at the Rotenbühl grammar school .
