Sorina Nwachukwu

Sorina Nwachukwu (born August 21, 1987 in Witten ) is a German sprinter .

The daughter of a Nigerian athlete and soccer player and a German grew up in Eschweiler , where she began her career at LSG Eschweiler . She has been playing for TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen since 2002 .

At the 2004 Junior World Championships in Grosseto, the 400-meter runner came fourth with the German 4-by-400-meter relay , and two years later she finished sixth with the relay at the Junior World Championships in Beijing.

After several championship titles in the youth and junior division, Nwachukwu became German champion for the first time in the adult division in 2007 with the Leverkusen 4 x 400 meter relay. In 2008 she repeated winning the title with the club relay both indoors and at the open-air championships.

In addition, she was third in the individual competition over 400 meters and thus qualified for the German relay at the Olympic Games in Beijing , with which she reached eighth place. Together with Denise Hinrichs , Janin Lindenberg , Michael Schrader , Raúl Spank and Raphael Holzdeppe, she was one of the six athletes in the Beijing squad who had already participated in the 2006 Junior World Championships in Beijing.

At the 2009 World Championships in Berlin , Nwachukwu made it to the semi-finals over 400 meters, where she was eliminated in sixth of her run. In the same year she was the first German champion over 400 meters for women. Her best time over 400 meters is 51.53 s, run at the German Athletics Championships 2009 in Ulm .

Sorina Nwachukwu is 1.75 m tall and has a competition weight of 61 kg.
