Ruwen Faller (born July 22, 1980 in Rheinfelden ) is a former German sprinter and current athletic trainer for Bundesliga soccer club RB Leipzig . Previously, he worked in the same position for FC Schalke 04 .

Career

Career as a track and field athlete

The 400-meter runner set his personal record on July 3, 1999 in Erfurt with 45.74 seconds and shortly afterwards won gold in the individual competition and with the 4-by-400-meter relay at the 1999 European Junior Athletics Championships in Riga .

At the European Athletics Indoor Championships in 2000 , he won silver with the relay. In 2003 and 2006 he was German indoor champion, and at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens he took seventh place in the relay. He also took part in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China.

Faller's last competition was at the World Athletics Championships in Berlin in 2009 .

Ruwen Faller is a member of the Bundeswehr's sports promotion group. Since 2005 he started for SC Magdeburg , previously for the clubs TV Wehr , LAC Quelle Fürth Munich and TuS Jena . In November 2011 he announced the end of his own sporting career.

Career as an athletic trainer

From March 2011 to November 2018 Faller was the athletic trainer of FC Schalke 04 . With the Knappen he won the DFB Cup and the DFL Supercup in 2011 .

Since December 1, 2018, he has been one of three athletic coaches for the league competitor RB Leipzig .
