Till Helmke (born May 6, 1984 in Friedberg (Hessen) ) is a former German sprinter who was used in the national athletics team in both individual competitions and in the 4 x 100 meter relay .

Life

At the Junior European Championships in 2003 Helmke won silver over 100 meters and with the relay and bronze over 200 meters . In 2004 he was nominated for the Olympic Games in Athens . Over 200 meters he reached the intermediate run, with the relay he was eliminated in the lead. In 2005 he won the relay silver at the U23 European Championships and took fourth place over 200 meters at the Universiade . In 2007 he was third in the European Cup with the relay. At German championships Helmke often took second and third places, both with his club relay and alone.

Helmke was part of the relay squad for the 2008 Olympic Games , where he took fourth place in the Olympic final with the German relay team. With his best time of 20.37 s over 200 meters he is in seventh place on the all-time German best list (as of September 2012). In 2012 he ended his career. Since the end of his career, Helmke has dedicated himself to volleyball . He plays for TG Bornheim in the position of outside attacker.

Till Helmke is 1.83 m tall and weighed 80 kg at competition times. He started for TSV Friedberg-Fauerbach, LG Ovag Friedberg-Fauerbach and TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen . He completed a bachelor's degree in business administration at the University of Frankfurt and then began a master's degree in sports management at the DSHS Cologne .

Since 2013 he has been working as an assistant to the management together with Martina Kalich-Lang for the Sporthilfe Hessen Foundation.

Till Helmke volunteers in the Presidium of the Hessian Athletics Association as Vice President Youth.
