Liv Westphal (born December 22, 1993 in Milan , Italy ) is a French athlete who competes in long-distance running and cross-country running .
Athletic career
Westphal gained his first experience at international championships at the 2011 Junior European Championships in Tallinn, Estonia . There she took eleventh place over 5000 meters. In 2012 she was also eleventh at the Junior World Championships in Barcelona with a new personal best over 3000 meters . In addition, she took twelfth place in the junior women's ranking at the European Cross Country Championships . In 2013 she subsequently won the bronze medal over 5000 meters at the U23 European Championships in Tampere after two athletes placed in front of her were disqualified for doping. At the European Cross Country Championships in Belgrade , she was sixth in the U23 classification. In 2015 she won the gold medal at the U23 European Championships in the Estonian capital Tallinn with a new French U23 record of 15: 30.61 minutes. She also won the silver medal at the European Cross Country Championships with the French team . She contributed to a 20th place. After a mixed year in 2016, she took ninth place in the general class at the European Cross Country Championships in Chia . In 2017 she represented France at the European Team Championships and came fourth over 5000 meters there.
She lives and trains in Boston , where she also studied Communication and Leadership and Administration at Boston College, gaining her first degrees in 2015 and 2016.
