European Cross Country Championships 2016

The 23 European Cross Country Championships the EAA found on 11 December 2016 in Chia , a hamlet in the Italian municipality of Domus de Maria instead.

The German Athletics Association (DLV) provided a squad of 25, including four Olympic participants from Rio de Janeiro .

Medals were awarded in the active, U23 and U20 categories. A course with a large lap (1500 m) and a small lap (500 m) was marked on the competition site. There was also a start straight (90 m) and a home straight (60 m). This resulted in the following race distances in the individual categories:

  • Men: 10,150 m (2 small and 6 large laps)
  • Women and U23 men: 8150 m (1 small and 5 large laps)
  • U23 women and U20 men: 6150 m (4 large rounds)
  • U20 women: 4150 m (2 small and 2 large rounds)
