Mílan Traíkovitz ( Greek Μίλαν Τραΐκοβιτς ; Serbian Милан Трајковић Milan Trajković ; English Milan Trajkovic ; born September 17, 1992 in Surdulica ) is a Cypriot hurdler of Serbian origin who specializes in the 110-meter hurdles . In 2001 he emigrated with his parents to Cyprus due to the civil war.

Athletic career

Mílan Traíkovitz gained his first international experience at the 2011 European Junior Championships in Tallinn , where he reached the semi-finals over 110 meter hurdles. Two years later he qualified over 60 m hurdles for the European Indoor Championships in Gothenburg , where he was eliminated with 7.95 s in the first round. He then won the gold medal at the Games of the Small States of Europe (GSSE) in Luxembourg . He also took part in the U23 European Championships in Tampere , where he finished eighth in the final.

In 2014 he took part in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow for the first time and was eliminated there with 13.95 s in the first round, as was the case at the European Championships in Zurich in August of the same year. In 2015 he again took part in the European Indoor Championships in Prague , where he was eliminated again with 7.83 seconds. At the Universiade in Gwangju , South Korea , he took sixth place in the final. In 2016 he qualified again for the European Championships in Amsterdam , where he finished fifth in the final with 13.44 seconds. He also qualified for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where he surprisingly reached the finals and finished seventh in 13.41 s.

In 2017 he took part in the European Indoor Championships in Belgrade for the third time , where he finished sixth in the final in 7.60 seconds. At the World Championships in London , he was eliminated with 13.32 s in the semifinals . In 2018 he reached the finals at the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham and was disqualified there due to a false start. In early April he finished fourth at the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast with 13.42 seconds.

In 2019 he became European indoor champion in the 60-meter hurdles in Glasgow with 7.60 s . At the World Championships in Doha, he reached eighth place.

In 2014, 2016 and 2017, Traíkovitz was the Cypriot champion in the 110-meter hurdles. He is a student at the Technical University of Cyprus .
