Ilya Dmitrijewitsch Iwanjuk ( Russian Илья Дмитриевич Иванюк ; English Ilya Ivanyuk ; born March 9, 1993 in Krasni ) is a Russian high jumper .

Athletic career

Ilya Ivanyuk gained his first international experience at the Junior World Championships 2012 in Barcelona , where he finished fourth with 2.21 m. In 2013 he started at the U23 European Championships in Tampere , where he also jumped 2.21 m and finished sixth. Two years later he won the U23 European Championships in Tallinn, Estonia with 2.30 m in front of Israeli Dmitry Kroyter (2.24 meters) and Briton Chris Kandu (2.21 meters).

Under a neutral flag starting occupied Iwanjuk at the World Championships 2017 in London in the final with 2.25 meters in sixth place. In 2018 he won the bronze medal at the European Championships in Berlin with a jump height of 2.31 meters behind the German Mateusz Przybylko and the Belarusian Maksim Nedassekau . At the 2019 World Championships , he won bronze with a new personal best of 2.35 m.
