Dariya Derkach ( Ukrainian Дарія Деркач Darija Derkatsch ; born March 27, 1993 in Vinnytsia , Ukraine ) is an Italian athlete of Ukrainian origin who is active in the triple jump and long jump .

Athletic career

At the U23 European Championships in Tampere 2013, she won the silver medal in the triple jump and took sixth place in the long jump. Furthermore, Derkach qualified for the World Championships in Moscow , where she was eliminated in the long jump competition with 6.16 m in the qualification.

In 2014 she won silver and bronze at the U23 Mediterranean Games in Aubagne in the three and long jump. In addition, she qualified in the triple jump for the European Championships in Zurich , where she was eliminated again in the qualification. In 2015 she qualified for the European Indoor Championships in Prague in the triple jump and was eliminated from the qualification there. At the U23 European Championships in Tallinn in 2015, she reached the triple jump final, where she just missed another medal in the triple jump as fourth. Since then, she has focused exclusively on the triple jump. In 2016 she reached the finals at the European Championships in Amsterdam , where she finished tenth. She also qualified for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where she was eliminated with 13.56 m in the qualification . In 2017 she took part in the European Indoor Championships in Belgrade , but was 13th in the qualification and failed to qualify for the final again.

In 2018 she qualified again for the European Championships in Berlin , where she was eliminated in the first round without a valid attempt. Before that, she was eighth at the Mediterranean Games in Tarragona with 13.39 m.

In 2014, 2016 and 2017 Dekach was Italian champion in the outdoor triple jump and in 2014 indoor champion in the long jump and in 2015 and 2017 also in the triple jump. She was born in the Ukraine and has lived with her parents in Pagani near Naples since 2002 . She has been an Italian citizen since 2013 and has been international for Italy since then. That is why she did not take part in any international junior championships.
