Oscar Chelimo (born December 12, 2001 ) is a Ugandan long-distance runner .

Athletic career

Oscar Chelimo gained his first experience at international championships in 2017 at the U18 World Championships in Nairobi , where he finished fifth in the 3000 meter run in 8: 17.57 minutes . In the following year he reached seventh place over 5000 meters at the U20 World Championships in Tampere in 14: 00.68 min and then won the bronze medal over 3000 meters at the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires . At the 2019 World Cross Country Championships in Aarhus , he won the bronze medal in the U20 classification after 23:55 minutes and secured the silver medal behind Ethiopia in the team classification. He then finished sixth over 5000 meters at the Junior African Championships in Abidjan in 13: 54.88 minutes and then took part in the African Games in Rabat for the first time , where he finished fifth in the 5000 meter run in 13: 32.96 minutes . He also qualified for the World Championships in Doha , where he was eliminated with 13: 42.94 minutes in the lead .
