Sarah Chelangat (born June 5, 2001 ) is a Ugandan long-distance runner .
Athletic career
Sarah Chelangat gained her first international experience at the 2017 World Cross Country Championships in Kampala , where she finished 14th in the U20 classification in 20:13 minutes and won the bronze medal with the team. Then she was fifth in the 3000-meter run at the Youth World Championships in Nairobi in 9: 40.18 min . Shortly afterwards, at the Commonwealth Youth Games in Nassau , she reached tenth place in the 1500 meter run in 4: 26.88 minutes and was fourth in the 3000 meters in 9: 31.65 minutes. The following year she finished fourth at the U20 World Championships in Tampere over 5000 meters in 15: 43.01 min and then won the silver medal over 3000 meters at the African Youth Games. In October she won the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires . At the 2019 World Cross Country Championships in Aarhus , she finished fourth in 20:51 minutes and then won the bronze medal in the 5000-meter run at the Junior African Championships in Abidjan in 16:09.96 minutes . In August she was fourth at the Africa Games in Rabat in 15: 38.11 minutes.
In 2019 Chelangat became the Ugandan champion in the 1500 meter run.
