Andreas Bechmann (born September 28, 1999 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German decathlete . He starts for the LG Eintracht Frankfurt . He has been trained by Jürgen Sammert since 2017.

Life path

Bechmann comes from a sporty family. His parents were both handball players . After elementary school, he tried to come to the Carl-von-Weinberg-Schule , but failed the entrance test to the sports school . That is why he went to the Liebig School in Frankfurt and finished his Abitur there after the twelfth grade at the age of 17. He then began general management studies at accadis University in Bad Homburg .

Sporting successes

Bechmann is an all-rounder . He won his first national title at the German indoor all-around championships in Halle an der Saale in early 2019 . He was also voted Ace of the Month because of his success . Due to his success in 2019, he started for Germany at the European Athletics Indoor Championships 2019 in Glasgow, where he finished fifth in the heptathlon with 6001 points. At the Thorpe Cup 2019 he led the German team to victory with his first 8,000-point decathlon.

The following year he was able to defend his title in Leverkusen and set up a new German U23 performance in the indoor heptathlon.
