Shunsuke Izumiya ( Japanese 泉 谷 俊 輔 ; * January 26, 2000 ) is a Japanese hurdler who specializes in the 110-meter distance . He also starts in the triple jump .

Athletic career

Shunsuke Izumiya gained his first international experience in 2018 at the Junior Asian Championships in Gifu , where he won the bronze medal in the triple jump with 15.89 m. He then took part in the hurdles sprint at the U20 World Championships in Tampere , where he also won the bronze medal in 13.38 s. The following year he won the bronze medal at the Summer Universiade in Naples in 13.49 seconds behind the Brazilian Gabriel Constantino and Wilhem Belocian from France. He also qualified for the World Championships in Doha , but did not start there spontaneously.

Izumiya is a student at Juntendō University .
