Ngeno Kipngetich (born August 17, 2000 in Bomet County ) is a Kenyan track and field athlete who mainly competes in the 800-meter run .

Athletic career

Ngeno Kipngetich has been competing in national competitions in the 800-meter run since 2017. In 2018 he represented Kenya at the U20 World Championships in Tampere. After surviving the preliminary and semi-finals, he won the silver medal in the final with a new best time of 1: 46.45 minutes. In spring 2019 he took part in his first indoor competitions in Europe. Two months later he started at the U20 African Championships in Abidjan over 800 meters. After a successful run-up, he ran more than five seconds faster in the final and won the gold medal in a new best time of 1: 45.25 minutes. In August, Kipngetich finished fourth at the Kenyan Championships. A month later he took part in a national elimination competition for the World Championships in Doha. He won this race with a new best time of 1: 44.57 minutes and thus secured the ticket for the world championships. After he was able to decide his preliminary run for himself, he was eliminated a day later in sixth place in his semi-final run. Overall, he finished 20th in his first international adult championships.

Kipngetich comes from Bomet County in southwest Kenya, where he grew up as the oldest of six children and attended Sotit High School. He trains at the Moi International Sports Complex in Kasarani , Nairobi .
