Lalu Muhammad Zohri gained his first international experience at the Junior Asian Championships 2018 in Gifu , where he won the gold medal over 100 meters in 10.27 s and thus qualified for the U20 World Championships in Tampere , where he also won gold in 10.18 s won the first ever medal for Indonesia. At the end of August he took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta for the first time , where he finished seventh in 10.20 seconds. He also won the silver medal behind the team from Japan with the Indonesian 4 x 100 meter relay in 38.77 s. The following year he won the silver medal behind the Japanese Yoshihide Kiryu at the Asian Championships in Doha with a new national record of 10.13 s . He then retired from the World Relays in Yokohama with 39.39 s in the preliminary round. He also qualified over 100 meters for the World Championships in Doha, where he was eliminated with 10.36 s in the lead .
