Hima Das gained her first international experience at the 2017 Asian Youth Championships in Bangkok , where she finished seventh in the 200 meter final. She then took part in the Youth World Championships in Nairobi and was there in 24.39 s fifth. In 2018 she took part in the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast for the first time , where she finished sixth in the 400 meter final in 51.32 seconds and seventh in the Indian 4 x 400 meter relay. Then she won the U20 World Championships in Tampere, Finland in 51.46 s superior to the gold medal in front of the Romanian Andrea Miklós and retired with the Indian relay in the first round. At the end of August, at the Asian Games in Jakarta , she won the silver medal over 400 meters behind the Bahraini Salwa Eid Naser and ahead of the Kazakh Elina Michina with a new Indian record of 50.79 seconds . In addition, she won the Indian relay before Bahrain and Vietnam. In the mixed relay, which was held for the first time, she won the silver medal behind Bahrain. In 2019 the Bahraini relay team was disqualified for a doping offense and awarded the gold medal to India. The following year, she could not finish her 400 meter run at the Asian Championships in Doha .
In 2017 the Indian became champion in the 200-meter run.
