Winfred Mutile Yavi (born December 31, 1999 ) is a Bahraini obstacle runner of Kenyan origin who has been eligible to compete in Bahrain since 2016.

Athletic career

Winfred Mutile Yavi gained her first international experience at the 2017 World Championships in London , where she finished eighth in the final with 9: 22.67 minutes . The following year she won the bronze medal at the U20 World Championships in Tampere in 9: 23.47 min. At the end of August she won the Asian Games in Jakarta in 9: 36.52 minutes ahead of the Indian Sudha Singh . Shortly afterwards she was third in the Athletics Continental Cup in Ostrava in 9: 17.86 min. In 2019 she took part in the 2019 World Cross Country Championships in Aarhus and could not finish her race there. At the Arab Championships in Cairo , she won over 5000 meters as well as in the obstacle course. At the subsequent Asian Championships in Doha , she also won the 5000 meter run in 15: 28.87 minutes and over the obstacles in 9: 46.18 minutes. In addition, she won the bronze medal in the 1500 meter run in 4: 16.18 minutes behind the Indian PU Chitra and her compatriot Tigist Gashaw . At the World Championships in Doha she made it to the finals , where she finished fourth with a new personal best of 9: 05.68 minutes. Then she won the military world games in Wuhan in 9: 19.24 minutes in the obstacle course and won the silver medal behind the Namibian Helalia Johannes over 5000 meters in 15: 15.93 minutes .
