Breyton Avron Poole (born March 23, 2000 in Somerset West ) is a South African high jumper .
Athletic career
Breyton Poole gained his first international experience in 2015 at the U18 World Championships in Nairobi , where he won the gold medal with a 2.24 m jump . The following year he first took part in the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast , but retired there with 2.18 m in qualification. He then won the bronze medal at the U20 World Championships in Tampere with a height of 2.23 m. In 2019 he won the Junior African Championships in Abidjan with a new championship record of 2.18 m and was then fourth at the Summer Universiade in Naples with 2.21 m. He then took part in the Africa Games in Rabat for the first time and won the bronze medal there with 2.15 m behind his compatriot Mpho Links and Mathew Sawe from Kenya.
In 2014 and 2015, as well as in 2019 , Links became the South African high jump champion.
