Organ building Roethinger
The company Orgelbau Roethinger existed from 1893 to 1969 and was Edmond Alexandre Roethinger in Strasbourg established.
history
Edmond Alexandre Roethinger (born April 14, 1866 in Strasbourg ; † February 2, 1953 there ) began an apprenticeship at the age of 15 at Heinrich Koulen & Sohn , which at that time was still based in Strasbourg. From 1889 to 1891 he worked for Franz Borgias Maerz in Munich . He then went on a hike to get to know numerous organ builders in southern Germany , Austria , Switzerland and France .
In 1893 he went into business for himself by founding the Roethinger organ building company and was the owner of the company until 1945.
The instruments of the Roethinger organ building company are characterized by their neoclassical sound in the sense of the Alsatian organ reform and the ideas of Albert Schweitzer , as propagated by Heinrich Koulen and Haerpfer.
After Edmond Alexandre Roethinger left the company in 1945, his son Max Roethinger took over the management of the company. Due to the economic dependency of the Saar state, some new organs followed in today's Saarland . In 1968 the company was given up, which by then had built around 360 organs and harmonies .
