Distroff ( German Diesdorf , Lorraine Dischdrëf or Dischtrof ) is a French commune in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Thionville and the canton of Metzervisse . The place has 1773 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017).

geography

Distroff is about nine kilometers southeast of Thionville , in the valley of the Bibiche River , at an altitude between 163 and 257 m above sea level. The municipality covers 7.93 km².

history

The place was first mentioned in 936 as villa Theodorica , then in 1224 as Thiesdorf . Distroff has belonged to France since 1659. Before it belonged to Luxembourg as a fief.

From 1811 to 1902 the neighboring town of Kuntzig was incorporated.
