history

Küntzig was already known to the Gauls, as the burial place of a rich Gaul was from the last century BC. Found.

The Sankt Maximin Chapel, built in 1730 and located in Bahnhofsstraße (Rue de le Gare), also belongs to Küntzig.

Frog hunting in the surrounding moors used to be very common, which is why the frog is also an important symbol of the city.

Mills in Küntzig

There used to be two mills in Küntzig, the "Peschmillen" and the "Schockmillen". The "Peschmillen" stood along the "Falterbaach", a small stream in Küntzig, at the point where the "Rue de la Gare" and the "Rue des Prés" meet today. Nothing is left of this mill today. The "Schockmillen" stands on the outskirts of the village to the left of the CR 110 when you leave Küntzig in the direction of Grass.
