Käerjeng is a municipality in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and belongs to the canton of Capellen . It was created on January 1, 2012 through the merger of the communities of Niederkerschen and Küntzig .
geography
The municipality of Käerjeng is located in the southwest of Luxembourg in the canton of Capellen.
The neighboring communities are:
- in the north: Grass (part of the Steinfort community ) and Garnich
- in the east: Dippach and Sassenheim
- in the south: Differdange and Pétange
- in the west (Belgium): Aubange , Messancy and Arel

history
On August 9, 2019, a tornado covered numerous roofs in the community and in neighboring Pétange . There were injuries.

Churches
- The church in Niederkerschen was built between 1978 and 1982 and consecrated on May 23, 1982. It is currently the most modern church in Luxembourg
- In Oberkerschen there is a church that was built in 1740. The furnishings, which also include three historically valuable altars, date from the baroque era .
- The church in Linger was built in 1863 in neo-Romanesque style.
- The Küntziger Church was built in 1726. In Küntzig, next to this church, there is also the Sankt Maximin Chapel , which dates from the 18th century and is located in Bahnhofsstraße (Rue de le Gare) . To the left of the entrance to the chapel is the Wëll Lann , a linden tree that is estimated to be around 500 years old and reached a size of 6.93 m in 2000. On July 25, 2006, the linden tree was so badly damaged by a bad storm that the two main branches had to be removed for safety reasons.
- The church in Fingig was built between 1864 and 1866 and extensively renovated in 2003.
