Mamer ( Luxembourgish Mamer ) is a municipality in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg . The village of Capellen is the capital of the canton of the same name . It is the only canton capital in Luxembourg that is not also the municipal capital.

history
Mamer was first mentioned in an act on April 8, 960, when Countess Liutgardis gave the village of Mambra to the St. Maximin Monastery .
In 1972 remains of Roman thermal baths and a village were discovered during archaeological excavations near the Tossebierg . Today's Mamer was a resting place on a military and Roman road in Roman times.

The well-preserved Roman thermal baths are a sight to see .
Sports
One of the sports clubs in Mamer is FC Mamer 32 .
Another sports club is the VC Mamer (volleyball). This association attaches great importance to youth work. This made it possible to win the double (consisting of championship and cup victory) with the Cadettes women in the 2014/15 season. Furthermore, you could win the Luxembourg championship for women in 2013.
