The canton of Capellen ( Luxembourgish : Capellen ) is located in the southwest of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg . It borders the cantons of Redingen and Mersch to the north, the canton of Luxembourg to the east, the canton of Esch an der Alzette to the south and the Belgian province of Luxembourg to the west .

Until the abolition of the Luxembourg districts on October 3, 2015, the canton was part of the Luxembourg district .
