Dangé-Saint-Romain is a French municipality with 2981 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Vienne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Châtellerault and the canton of Châtellerault-2 . The inhabitants are called Dangéens .

geography

Dangé-Saint-Romain is located about 15 kilometers north-northeast of Châtellerault on the Vienne River . Dangé-Saint-Romain is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Les Ormes in the north, Saint-Rémy-sur-Creuse in the east and northeast, Leugny in the east and southeast, Ingrandes in the south, Vaux-sur-Vienne in the southwest, Vellèches in the west and Antogny -le-Tillac in the northwest.

The Dangé-Saint-Romain train station is on the Paris – Bordeaux line . The former route nationale 10 (today's D910) runs through the municipality .

history

In 1057 the place Dangé was first mentioned as Parochia Dangiaci on the map of Noyers. Saint-Romain, on the other hand, was only mentioned with its church in 1164.

In 1971 Dangé and Saint-Romain were merged.
