Saint-Jean-de-Sauves is a French village with 1,389 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Vienne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Châtellerault and the canton of Loudun (until 2015: canton of Moncontour ). The inhabitants are called Clémentins .

Saint-Jean-de-Sauves is located about 34 kilometers northwest of Poitiers on the banks of the eponymous Sauves River . Saint-Jean-de-Sauves is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Clair and La Chaussée in the north, Verrue in the east and northeast, Chouppes in the east and southeast, Mazeuil in the south, La Grimaudière in the southwest, Marnes in the west and Moncontour in the northwest.
