Pouançay is a French village with 234 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Vienne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016 Poitou-Charentes ); it belongs to the arrondissement of Châtellerault and the canton of Loudun (until 2015 Les Trois-Moutiers ).

Pouançay is located about 50 kilometers north-northwest of Poitiers on the Canal de la Dive . Neighboring communities of Pouançay are Montreuil-Bellay in the north and north-west, Épieds in the north and north-east, Saint-Léger-de-Montbrillais in the east, Berrie in the south and Antoigné in the west.
