Cernay is a French municipality with 477 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Vienne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016 Poitou-Charentes ); it belongs to the arrondissement of Châtellerault and the canton of Loudun (until 2015 Lencloître ). The inhabitants are called Cernaisiens .

Cernay is about 19 kilometers west-northwest of Châtellerault . Cernay is surrounded by the neighboring communities Savigny-sous-Faye in the north and Doussay in the south, east and west.
