The Canton Loudun is a French constituency in the arrondissements Châtellerault and Poitiers in Vienne, in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine ; its main town is Loudun . His representative in the Conseil Général was Jean Touret ( UMP ) from 2004 to 2011 . He was followed by Eleftérios Bénas ( DVD ).
The canton consists of 49 municipalities with a total of 26,600 inhabitants (as of 2017) on a total area of 931.25 km 2 :
Until the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons in March 2015, the canton of Loudun included the twelve communes of Arçay , Basses , Beuxes , Ceaux-en-Loudun , Chalais , La Roche-Rigault , Loudun , Maulay , Messemé , Mouterre-Silly , Saint-Laon and Sammarçolles . Its layout corresponded to an area of 245.55 km 2 . Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 8612.
