The canton was a member of the Regio Köln / Bonn eV and had a partnership with the Rhein-Sieg district , in particular with the municipality of Wachtberg. Both regional authorities were composed of numerous localities. Since the partnership agreement was signed with the municipality of Wachtberg in 1979, the mayors of the individual municipalities have been coordinating exchanges between primary schools in the sister towns. In the Wachtberg village of Berkum , a street is named after La Villedieu-du-Clain, the so-called La-Villedieu-Ring.
