The Canton Gençay was 2015 a French constituency in Arrondissement Montmorillon , in Vienne, and in the region of Poitou-Charentes ; its main town was Gençay . Arnaud Lepercq ( UMP ) was the last representative in the General Council of the Département from 1982 to 2015 .
The canton of Gençay was 326.89 km² and had 7,619 inhabitants (as of 1999), which corresponded to a population density of around 23 inhabitants per km². It was on average 139 meters above sea level . Its lowest (99 m) and its highest point (195 m) were both in Champagné-Saint-Hilaire .
