Château-Garnier is a French municipality with 614 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Vienne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Poitou-Charentes ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Montmorillon and the canton of Civray (until 2015: canton of Gençay ). The inhabitants are called Castelgarnerois .

Château-Garnier is located about 45 kilometers south-southeast of Poitiers on the Clain . Château-Garnier is surrounded by the neighboring communities of La Ferrière-Arioux in the north and north-west, Saint-Secondin in the north and north-east, Usson-du-Poitou in the east, Payroux and Joussé in the south-east, La Chapelle-Bâton in the south, and Saint-Romain in the Southwest and Sommières-du-Clain in the west.
